Pathlights, formerly PLOWS Council on Aging
Organizations / Non-Profit
Pathlights, formerly known as PLOWS Council on Aging, has been helping
guide communities along the path to aging for 46 years. As we all age, we will need various services and supports at times so that we can live out our best life, while remaining as independent as possible. Pathlights is there to help you with food, shelter, care and safety. No other organization in our area provides such comprehensive and coordinated services, at no charge.
More than 16,000 individuals in 20 communities throughout the Southwest Suburbs of Cook County use our services annually. Our service area represents the townships of Palos, Lemont, Orland, Worth and Stickney, an area with the second largest number of older adults 60 years and over in suburban Cook County. We help guide adults 60 years+, adults
with disabilities, their caregivers, families, and friends along their best
path to aging, providing resources, advocacy, programs and services needed to live with independence and dignity in the community.
The nonprofit's services include home-delivered meals and safety checks, in-home services, support groups, education, and Respite for caregivers, protection from abuse, access to benefits for health insurance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP), energy, transportation, and property tax savings, assistance needed for safe transition from hospitals or skilled nursing facilities, shared housing, and general information about resources.
