Free Business Seminars
Beginning this month, the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce will host free Business Seminars for its members and the community. All seminars will take place in the lower level meeting rooms of the Oak Lawn Public Library, located at 9427 S. Raymond Ave.
Scheduled for Thursday, September 23rd, the first seminar is titled “Get Up & Grow!” and will provide ideas on how members can boost their businesses income and create a plan for strategically sustaining that growth.
Denise Stillman of Clear Directions will give attendees a framework for their next 12 months’ marketing plan, a better understanding of how to re-evaluate their market in this new economy and help them gain more confidence in their positive growth. Denise is a 19-year veteran marketer and strategist who has expertise in marketing, strategic planning, sales and business development through her work for well-known consumer products companies, pharmaceutical giants and the healthcare industry.
On Tuesday, October 26th, we will address the “Five Keys to Email Marketing” with Steve Robinson of Constant Contact.
Steve will show how email marketing can help any business or organization grow. He’ll address creating and delivering highly branded, professional looking emails designed to wow customers and prospects. Email marketing is an effective, affordable and easy to use way to enhance any organization or business image and build relationships that lead to increased profits and participation. This seminar appeals to anybody that wants to learn five basic things that are necessary to successfully conduct email marketing campaigns.

On Thursday, November 18th members of SCORE (Service Core of Retired Executives) will address ways to "Cut Costs in Tough Times."

11th Annual Business ShowcaseThe Chamber of Commerce will host the 11th Annual Business Showcase on Saturday, October 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Spartan Gym of the Oak Lawn Community High School. The Business Showcase is held in conjunction with the Fall Arts and Crafts Fair, sponsored by the Parent-Teacher School Association. More than 40 businesses are expected to participate by showcasing their various products and services. “The Chamber encourages area residents to ‘Shop Oak Lawn First!’ and the Business Showcase presents an ideal opportunity to meet with local business owners and learn more about their valuable offerings,” says Rita Olsen, owner of the Gateway Motel & Inn and Chamber President. The Oak Lawn Chamber will use a portion of the proceeds from the Showcase to provide college scholarships to eligible Oak Lawn Community seniors.
